Surrogate Endpoints in APOL1-Associated Kidney Disease: Evaluation in Three Cohorts
Surrogate endpoints for the clinical outcome of kidney failure have been accepted by the United States Food and Drug Administration. However, they have not been specifically evaluated in Apolipoprotein L1 (APOL1)-associated kidney disease.

Bisphosphonate Use After Kidney Transplantation Is Associated with Lower Fracture Risk
Kidney transplant recipients are at higher risk of fractures compared to the general population. The use of bisphosphonates has been shown to increase bone mineral density after transplantation but has not been shown to lower fracture rates. Here, we aim to determine if exposure to bisphosphonates associates with lower incidence of non-vertebral fractures after kidney transplantation.
Fat Distribution and Urolithiasis Risk Parameters in Uric Acid Stone Formers and Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Associations of Abnormal Fluid Status, Plasma Sodium Disorders, and Low Dialysate Sodium with Mortality in Patients on Hemodialysis
Abnormal fluid and plasma sodium concentrations are established prognostic factors for patients on hemodialysis. However, the cumulative effects of abnormal salt and water and potential effect modifications and the effect of dialysate sodium remain incompletely understood.

Urinary Response to Consuming Plant-Based Meat Alternatives in Persons with Normal Kidney Function: The SWAP-MEAT Pilot Trial
Consuming excess animal meat may exacerbate kidney disorders, such as urinary stone disease and CKD. Plant-based meat alternatives imitate animal meat and replace animal with vegetable protein, but it is unclear whether eating plant-meat confers similar health benefits as eating whole vegetables. We hypothesized that eating plant-meat when compared with animal meat decreases dietary acid load but increases dietary phosphorus and nitrogen.

Baseline, Early Changes, and Residual Albuminuria: Post-hoc Analysis of a Clinical Trial of Dapagliflozin in Chronic Kidney Disease
Albuminuria is a strong indicator of kidney and cardiovascular risk in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We assessed risk associations between albuminuria at baseline and four months after randomization in a placebo-controlled trial of dapagliflozin and kidney endpoints in patients with CKD and albuminuria, with and without type 2 diabetes.
Early Effects of the End-Stage Renal Disease Treatment Choices Model on Kidney Transplant Waitlist Additions
Despite the mortality benefit of kidney transplantation over dialysis, only 13% of patients with end-stage kidney disease are on the transplant waitlist. Given the low rates of transplant waitlisting in the US, Medicare launched the End-Stage Renal Disease Treatment Choices (ETC) Model in 2021, the largest mandatory trial of payment incentives in kidney disease, which randomized 30% of healthcare markets to financial bonuses/penalties to improve kidney transplantation and home dialysis use. This study examines the effect of ETC payment adjustments on US kidney transplant waitlist additions.
Neighborhood Socioeconomic Deprivation is Associated with Worse Outcomes in Pediatric Kidney Transplant Recipients
Social determinants of health shape a child's transplant course. We describe the association between neighborhood socioeconomic deprivation, transplant characteristics, and graft survival in US pediatric kidney transplant recipients.
Classification of Predictors of Rapid Development of Kidney Failure and Short-Term Changes in Concentration of Circulating Proteins
Limited knowledge exists regarding short-term changes/increases in concentrations of circulating proteins (referred here as deltas) and rapid development of kidney failure (rapid KF) in diabetes mellitus.
