Liposuction has become the most sought-after aesthetic surgery across the globe, increasing the demand for more developments in patient safety protocols. Evidence of the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in reducing intraoperative blood loss with minimal complications have led to its widespread applications across various surgical operations. However, the role and effectiveness of TXA in liposuction is not fully understood. Therefore, the purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to investigate the effectiveness of TXA in minimizing intraoperative blood loss in patients undergoing liposuction.

Visseral Lipectomy Improves Metabolic Syndrome Parameters and Adipokines in a Rat Model of Metabolic Syndrome Induced by Monosodium Glutamate
Tunc-Ata M, Altunay ZM, Senol H and Kucukatay V
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) includes abdominal obesity, hypertension, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. Research has indicated that reducing excess visceral fat has positive effects on inflammation and insulin resistance. We examined whether visceral lipectomy modifies the effects of MetS parameters and adipocytokine levels.
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose Serves as Sustained-Release Agents for Providing Analgesia at the Donor Site After Costal Cartilage Harvesting in Ear Reconstruction
Deng Y, Wang B, Jiang H, Luan W, Pan B and Li C
The postoperative pain experienced at the donor site following ear reconstruction using autologous costal cartilage significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Sodium carboxymethylcellulose demonstrates a favorable sustained release property, and its potential to prolong the analgesic effect of ropivacaine remains unexplored. The present study aimed to investigate the analgesic efficacy of ropivacaine gel formulated with sodium carboxymethylcellulose as a sustained-release agent on the donor site of costal cartilage.
Tranexamic Acid in Liposuction: A Systematic Review of Literature and Meta-Analysis
Fuenmayor PJ, Lubert J, Castrellon R and Pujadas Z
Tranexamic acid (TXA) is increasingly employed in plastic surgery to reduce perioperative hemorrhage. This systematic review assesses TXA's impact on blood loss, bruising, and fat graft survival following liposuction.
Clavicular Contouring with a Novel Subperiosteal Filler Injection Technique: A Single-Case Study
Chang CH and Zhao HL
Injectable cosmetic procedures are increasingly popular among beauty seekers as rapid technology and material advancements making it easier to achieve desired results through minimal trauma. The technique of subperiosteal injection, which is not yet introduced to the field of medical esthetics, may achieve more satisfying results. This study confirms the possibility of subperiosteal injection of dermal filler, using the clavicle area as the validation region, and has been validated by ultrasound examinations. This novel injection technique combining sharp and cannula successfully achieves subperiosteal filling injections, aiming to shape clear contours by utilizing subperiosteal filling and addressing the displacement issues of conventionally injected dermal filler, thereby achieving long-term reliable results.

A Novel Classification of Nasal Sill Morphology Provides Strategies for Secondary Cleft Rhinoplasty
Xia Y, Yuan J, Wang Z, Zhen Y and An Y
Inconsistent and suboptimal outcomes in secondary cleft lip deformity repairs stem from the absence of a standardized classification system for nasolabial deformities, causing surgeons to rely heavily on their experience to determine surgical strategies. Nasal sill morphology reflects the severity of nasolabial deformities and plays a crucial role in facial aesthetics. This study introduces a novel classification for secondary cleft nasolabial deformities based on nasal sill morphology from the base view and provides tailored surgical techniques for each type.
