Despite its high prevalence, research on the underlying mechanisms and on potential risk and resilience factors for maintaining or quitting NSSI remains scarce. This manuscript presents an overview of the "Self-injury: Treatment-Assessment-Recovery" (STAR) collaboration, which aimed to address these gaps.
